China’s ambitious space program suffered a rare setback on Sunday as its new heavy-lift carrier rocket, the Long March-5 Y2, failed an hour after lift-off.
Chinese state media only said an “anomaly” was detected, without providing further details, adding an investigation is being carried out.
The launch from Wenchang Space Launch Centre was to be the last test before the rocket sends a lunar probe into orbit to try and collect and return samples from the moon.
