The University of Macau has the largest Portuguese-teaching institution in Asia. Reports say the number of students learning and using the language has nearly doubled over the past five years. To meet increasing demand, universities are offering numerous Portuguese-related programs. Experts say students are starting to regard the language as a working tool. And in elementary and secondary schools, Chinese-Portuguese bilingual classes are becoming popular.
