আঙ্গুলের ছাপ জটিলতায় পাসপোর্ট আটকে যাওয়ায় চরম ভোগান্তিতে পড়েছেন স্পেনের শতাধিক প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশি। রাজধানীর মাদ্রিদে বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে প্রবাসীদের এক মত বিনিময় সভায় এমন ভোগান্তির কথা উঠে আসে।
সভায় ভুক্তভোগীরা জানান, পাসপোর্ট না পাওয়ায় স্পেন সরকারের স্থায়ী আবাসিক অনুমোদন নবায়ন করতে পারছে না প্রবাসীরা। এমনকি রেসিডেন্স কার্ড নবায়নের সময় পাসপোর্ট দেখাতে না পারলে স্থায়ী আবাসিক অনুমোদনটি বাতিল হয়ে যাবে বলেও জানান ভুক্ত ভোগীরা।
এতে, বৈধ রেসিডেন্স কার্ড পাওয়া থকে বঞ্চিত হওয়ার আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে। তবে, প্রবাসীদের রেসিডেন্স কার্ড ও পাসপোর্টের তথ্যে অমিলের কারণেই এ সমস্যা সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে বলে জানান, দূতাবাস কর্মকর্তারা।
প্রবাসীদের এ সমস্যা দ্রুত সমাধানের আশ্বাস দেন স্পেনে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্টদূত হাসান মাহমুদ খন্দকার।
