(22 May 2017) China reiterated on Monday its opposition to India’s bid to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), an international group of countries that seeks to prevent nuclear proliferation by controlling the export of technology and material that could be used to make nuclear weapons.
“China’s position on the non-NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) members’ participation in the Nuclear Suppliers Group has not changed,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying.
The NSG group is expected to meet next month in Switzerland and discuss India’s bid, which China has consistently opposed.
Pakistan is the other non-NPT signatory that is also a nuclear weapon state.

China blocks India’s entry to NSG again. China claims that the issue has become more complicated under new circumstances. China further said there should be non-discriminatory solution applicable to all those who are not signatories of non- proliferation of nuclear weapon treaty.

China rules out backing India’s entry into the elite Nuclear Suppliers Group saying that the India’s NSG bid is more complicated under new situation.
