Sergio Ramos has said that he loves beating England ahead of the two sides’ UEFA Nations League clash. Gareth Southgate’s men travel to the Estadio Benito Villamarin in Seville on Monday evening, with Ramos’ Spain looking to secure top spot in Group A4 before the final round of fixtures. And speaking ahead of the game, Ramos – a talisman for both club and country – admitted that England’s status as ‘inventors of football’ makes any victory over them extra sweet. ‘I’ve played many matches against English clubs and the national team – and I always notice a difference in those games,’ he told the Daily Mirror. ‘When you play against the inventors of football, it adds more importance to the result and you can see that demonstrated by the levels on the pitch. ‘To play and to win against England is big news around the world and footballers are always grateful for that. Ramos also predicted a bright future for the young Three Lions squad, as well as singling out striker Harry Kane as the danger-man ahead of Monday’s game. ‘I am expecting a beautiful, but intense, match,’ he added. ‘Harry Kane is a very complicated player to stop. That is clear and at Wembley he caused our defenders to work very hard. ‘England have called up young players who are dangerous and quick and I can see the future looks good for this squad.’ Ramos got his name on the scoresheet on Thursday as Spain warmed up for the Nations League clash with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Wales in Cardiff. It was the latest sign that Luis Enrique’s team are back to something approaching their best following their World Cup disappointment in Russia. After beating England 2-1 at Wembley on matchday one, they then followed it up with a 6-0 hammering of Croatia last month as the Enrique era started in particularly impressive fashion. With two games left to play in Group A4, La Roja are already five points clear of rivals England and Croatia.
