Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow is “fully ready” to cooperate with Washington in Syria, speaking in Moscow, Saturday, during a meeting with the Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi.
Lavrov stated that King Abdullah II of Jordan has repeatedly emphasised the importance of cooperation between Russia and the US in dealing with the Syrian crisis, remarking: “let me assure you we are fully ready. And we count on Washington to adopt the same approach.”
SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): “More than once we have heard His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasising the importance of cooperation between Russia and the USA in order for the global community to tackle the Syrian crisis effectively. Let me assure you we are fully ready. And we count on Washington to adopt the same approach.”
SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): “To tackle this task we need to combine efforts of everyone who fights terrorism in Syria. By this I mean the Russian Aerospace Forces, and the American-led coalition.”
SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): “In a few days there will be a new round of consultations on the Astana platform between the government and armed opposition with the guarantor countries also participating. And we think it is important to exchange opinions on how the preparation for this important event is coming along.”
SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): “We will be addressing key questions including further consultations on a ceasefire, realisation of confidence-building measures, humanitarian aid provision and the creation of a positive environment for a political settlement.”
SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): ”We know that ISIS fighters took over south Syria while Jabhat al-Nusra is gaining a greater presence. So we’d like to know your opinion on how we can neutralise the threat, secure peace and push for a more decisive attack on terrorist positions.”
SOT, Ayman Al-Safadi, Jordanian Foreign Minister (Arabic): “‘As was mentioned before there are many questions that would require the attention of all parties involved to find a solution. We need to take affirmative action towards achieveng security and stability in the region. This is our common goal which is shared by Russia and the entire global community.”
