China’s State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) released its top ten news of 2015 in the field of national defense’s science, technology and industry on Monday.
The news were selected from programs and events recommended by Military Industrial companies and schools, China Academy of Engineering Physics and local government departments of national defense, including the commencement of Hualong One nuclear power unit, the maiden flight of Changzheng 6 carrier rocket, the final assembly of China’s C919 large passenger aircraft, and the launch of Gaofen-4 satellite.
“These science and technology achievements would provide strong technological support for the construction of military equipment, building of national economy and the development of economic society, realizing the overall efficiency of science, technology and industry of national defense,” said Mo Xiangjun, director of SASTIND.
He also said that in 2015 China made phased progress in the fields of new generation nuclear power, large passenger aircraft, and high-definition earth observation project, which would be promoted in 2016.
“We will promote spacecraft rendezvous and docking technology, China’s lunar program Chang’e. In 2016, we will launch the maiden flight of Changzheng 5 carrier rocket with the thrust up to 25 tons and non-toxic and pollution-free propellant, which prepares itself for the return after sampling on moon in 2017,” said Mo.
