Two Chinese nationals stuck in Taoyuan’s airport for 125 days have finally been allowed to enter Taiwan. Liu Xinglian and Yan Kefen landed in the airport last September hoping to seek asylum in Taiwan, but did not have the documents necessary for entry.The two men claim to face the threat of political persecution in China for their human rights work. Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council has arranged the two men to enter the country on a “professional exchange” visa. The council emphasized that Taiwan was not granting them political asylum.
