Countries in Europe are extremely worried by the speed the novel coronavirus is spreading within Europe, and they are urgently coming up with measures to counter the virus.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Spain now stands at 5,232. That’s 7 times the number of cases confirmed 5 days ago.
In response, the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has declared Saturday a state of emergency for the next 15 days.
This allows the government to combat the virus by mobilizing all available resources, including the armed forces.
The government can now limit free movement, temporarily occupy factories and any other premises, including private hospitals.
“We said we were expecting difficult days and it cannot be ruled out that next week we reach 10,000 people affected. All efforts by regional, national and international health authorities are focused on avoiding a fast propagation of the virus.”
Schools, cinemas, theaters, and shops have shut down across the country as Spain has the second-highest number of coronavirus cases in Europe after Italy.
In Italy, the domestic daily death toll of the virus reached its highest on Friday with 250 deaths recorded.
Now there are more than 17-thousand confirmed cases with 1,266 fatalities, almost 40 percent the death toll of China.
France, with more than 3-thousand-600 confirmed coronavirus cases, has banned events where more than 100 people are likely to gather.
Its famous tourism spots, the Louvre Museum and the Eiffel Tower, are temporarily closed.
The World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said Europe has now become the epicenter of the pandemic, with more reported cases and deaths than the rest of the world combined apart from China.
