A group of Portugal fans left Funchal, Cristiano Ronaldo’s hometown on the Island of Madeira, three weeks ago. They travelled for 12 days covering 7,000 kilometres to get to the Russian border and from there they are following Ronaldo and is teammates through all the cities they play. They travelled in an old van which is painted with the colours of the Portuguese flag and covered with stickers depicting pictures of people they met along the way and memorabilia such as tickets to games played by Portugal.
Eating and drinking Portuguese food and wine, they arrived in Saransk, Republic of Mordovia, to attend the game of Portugal versus Iran. The game resulted in a victory of their team that went through to the round of 16. The group plans to stay as long as Portugal last into the World Cup before driving back home. Video SNTV.
