The fierce electoral contest ended in five states (UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa), and the verdict today will decide the fate of these states including Punjab, which remained at the centre of the farmer’s protest.
The battle for the 117 Assembly seats in Punjab began on February 20 that witnessed a multi-cornered contest between Congress, AAP, SAD-BSP, BJP-PLC-SAD (Sanyukt), and the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, a political front of various farmer bodies.
Most exit polls have predicted a big win for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP in Punjab, with India Today exit poll projecting up to 76-90 seats in the 117-member assembly.
The majority mark in Punjab is 69.
