警察は、乗用車を運転していた愛媛県今治市立花町の会社員、在間亮平容疑者（４１）を、禁止された場所で車をＵターンさせたとして、道路交通法違反の疑いで逮捕しました。
警察の調べに対し、在間容疑者は、「ストレスから自暴自棄になり、むちゃな運転をした」などと供述しているということです。
警察のこれまでの調べで、在間容疑者は、伊予鉄道の松山市駅近くで、自転車に乗っていた６０代の女性をはね、頭に軽いけがを負わせたほか、合わせて５件の物損事故を起こした疑いがあるということで、警察は今後、自転車の女性をはねてそのまま逃げた疑いで在間容疑者を再逮捕し、暴走に至った詳しいいきさつを調べる方針です。
