家宅捜索が行われたのは、指定暴力団・神戸山口組の中核組織「山健組」や神戸山口組の拠点事務所。今月１２日、長田区で「任侠山口組」の関係者、楠本勇浩さんが射殺され、「山健組」傘下の組員、菱川龍己容疑者が指名手配されている。
警察はこれまでに、現場近くで犯行グループが使ったとみられるバイクや、約１０キロ離れたバス停付近で拳銃２丁と菱川容疑者の免許証を発見、押収し捜査している。
